Threatening Pakistan
« on: September 22, 2006, 04:20:56 PM »

Apparently Musharraf has stated that Armitage threatened to bomb Pakistan "back into the Stone Age" if he didn't cooperate in finding bin Laden shortly after 9/11.  Do you think this is credible, or is Musharraf exaggerating?  I hope our diplomats didn't use such words.  Conveying a "strong sense of determination" is one thing, while threatening to bomb a country back into the Stone Age is quite another.

Armitage denies he said this and indeed was quite surprised according to a news article when he first heard of this.  I think that perhaps someone confused Afghanistan with Pakistan, which like we all know, had already been bombed to the Stone Age by 2002!  Smiley
