Remember the "wet on wet" painting shows on TV?
« on: September 21, 2006, 12:25:39 PM »

Remember the "wet on wet" painting shows on TV?  I did enjoy seeing that...
does anyone remember the names of the artists.  One was from Florida, a hippy
type that kept making "happy little trees*?

That's not the same as the funny man with the afro that taught painting shows for years, is it?  I can't remember his name, either.

Bob Ross!?!?!  I loved that guy, is there such a thing as aggressively laid back?  If you tried to explain that show to someone who's never seen it, it would sound painfully boring, but turn it on, and you can't look away.  I think PBS figured out a way to transmit hypnotic signals.
I think I'm going to refer to everything as 'happy little...' today in remembrance of an american icon.

YES! Bob Rossi.  He died of cancer and we lost an artist who seemed to enjoy creating
for us "happy pictures"!

The other man had a show...he was a Chef Boy-Ar-Dee type, maybe enjoyed the
bubbly too much.

God Bless Bob!  I remember that show....  I agree that it was strangely mesmerizing.  Agressively laid back is a good way to describe his persona.

I don't know if this is who you're referring to, But I remember a guy named William Alexander who used that phrase quite often.

Thanks to Gee for getting the EBay site for W. Alexander's videos.
Firefly, those would make a fine collection...and a good donation to an art
department when you have finished!  I wonder how many this "guy" has
in his collection?
