Any other suggestions would be much appreciated. In the meantime it looks like every new member to the forum for the past two months has been a spambot. Can sys admin give bona fide full members the option to delete those accounts ourselves?

The spam bots are indeed a problem. I will meddle with the registration function and see if I can't get them to go away.

Okay, effective immediately, I must specifically approve all new members. If someone sounds like a spam bot, I will not let them in. If someone sounds legitimate, and they turn out to be a spammer, I will give them the boot. It's going to be lots of fun weeding through the spam, but if it will improve our board, I'm willing. We'll see how it works...

Thanks for looking into this. They're a real pain in the ayne, and life needs to be made difficult for them. A lot of the spambot email addresses look dodgy. Perhaps you need to start blocking certain ISPs, plus a lot of forum spam seems to originate in Russia so perhaps if people register with a .ru email address they have to go to additional steps to prove they are not spammers.
Perhaps there needs to be a registration confirmation email, thet needs a physically typed reply to activate? Or they have to answer a randomly generated trivia question? Nothing too difficult, just something that would flummox a robot.
(five bucks says the latest member Searchaab is a spambot)
