i get to be the first. how exciting. i just hate talking about myself. i am an amateur artist (oil painting, primarily) and also someone who believes that keeping the mind active is the surest way to stay young. i think an obscure group of puzzle-solving nuns proved this principle years ago. as i've mentioned previously on this forum, i have a good success rate with trumalia point questions. and i'm happy to report that my riddle cracking skills are improving slowly. i was an english major, and now wish that i had followed my true passion, which is the arts. but i can't go back and change the past now, can i? i'll have to be content with my knowledge of obscure 19th century authors. i've lived just about everywhere, which perhaps makes me a bit of a gypsie. i need motion, and i love the open road. my ideal retirement will involve a very old van and gas money. okay, now you know a little about me. who's next? don't leave me hanging.

I don't know, I'm making this up as I go...
|
My name is Josh, and I am a riddleholic...
...just kidding. Though I do like solving riddles. I probably spent an unhealthy amount of time and mental effort towards solving them over this summer, but then, I did have an enormous amount of free time to do it in. Now that school has started back up (I go to Texas A&M University) my amount of free time has been sufficiently decimated, but I'm still very determined to try and crack at least one more code. I'd be more than happy if someone else beats me to it, however, since the experience of jetsetting my way out to California for a day was quite a unique adventure, and one I'd recommend to anyone.
But I digress. Like I said, I go to A&M where I am currently a sophomore majoring in aerospace engineering. Got a love and fascination of all things outer space. Not entirely unusual, I expect. But I've also a knack for math and science, with allows me to venture into the field personally, which is great. I especially like the direction the industry seems to be going with the huge increase in the privatization of much of the aerospace sector. Not only does that give me a better chance of getting a good job, but it means more industry competition, which is always a good thing. If humanity is ever going to take a stroll round the solar system one of these days, it has to start somewhere.
I've lived in Texas my whole life, but have gotten the chance to travel quite a bit so far, and hope to do so even more in the future. I guess for one who would like to travel to outer space, traveling to places nearer at hand is the next best thing. But I imagine that's more than enough about me. Who's next?

Hi Firefly and Josh. I suppose I'll trot myself out next. I share Josh's fascination with all things relating to outer space. I've pretty good at any questions on this site regarding astronomy, and there seem to be many. I'm also a lover of the arts, if you can't already guess from some of my posts. I am not much of an academic... I'm really more of an armchair philosopher. Like Firely, I try to keep my brain busy, and this darn site seems to do an admirable job at achieving that goal. My work productivity has also gone down tenfold. I'd love to say I do something glamorous, but that's not the case. I'm a member of the cubicle world. For those of you who've never tried it, working in a cube gets old. Anyone have a more exciting job for me? I grew up in Washington State, which taught me to appreciate all things green. I love the outdoors, so the thought of going on a artifact gathering expedition is enticing. Not so sure about getting through all those riddles, though. I'm enjoying them, but progress is slow. Enough about me. Next!!

I just discovered this site. So far, it seems pretty cool. As my name might imply, I enjoy running. Primarily trail running in the SF Bay Area hills. I'm a student at San Jose State, with the longterm goal of becoming a high school English teacher. Glad to be here. I'm not much of a debater, but I may pitch in now and then.

Hi everyone. I'm an attorney by training, (please, no booing -- we have feelings too), but my real passions are reading and anything to do with the outdoors. Fly fishing, mountain climbing, backpacking, kayaking... I love it all. My taste in literature runs from the classics to recent works such as Cold Mountain.
This site seems to have attracted an interesting mix of people so far. Take care.

My middle name is Tiberius. I'm not kidding. My parents had a cruel sense of humor. I've tried to live up to the name, but I'm just not much of a leader. I'm not very Roman either, for that matter. My ancestors, so far as I can tell, were Scottish and Irish. How did I end up with the name Maximus Tiberius? God only knows. Perhaps a bit too much grog in the system.
So, picture Maximus Tiberius, and then picture the polar opposite. Perhaps Nerdius Stupendicus. I fit the later much more than the former. Ah well, you can't pick your gene pool, can you?

I'm Udo. It's short for the German name Udolph. I'm not German, but I like the name and the diminutive. I've had it for a long time on the net.
I have a wide variety of interests (read ADHD) and like to vary dramatically between stone cold sober responses and the completely inane or sarcastic.
I think someday I'll get rich doing the things I love most, but there are so few scientific sleep studies that pay.

Udo, if sleeping were a paid activity, I too would be a rich man. I have a feeling that I'm older than most people on this board, but I'll never reveal my actual age. Suffice it to say, I remember the 60's well.
I love a good discussion, and I'm happy to have found a few members who will go round and round with me.
I'm originally from the UK, and am now happily a US citizen, though I go back and visit my homeland whenever I can.

My middle name is Tiberius. I'm not kidding. I don't know why, but I couldn't stop laughing after reading this. At least you've taken your name with a grain of salt and a good sense of humor, Maximus. Do people call you Max? I don't have anything exciting to reveal about myself. I spend too much time online, and I also enjoy cooking and viticulture.

I'm new to this site. I registered out of curiosity. The posts I've read so far reveal an interesting membership with whom I think I'll enjoy corresponding. I am a middle-aged female with a law degree. I work for the State of Californina as a manager. I have three beautiful Boxer dogs and a nice home. I enjoy reading history, historical fiction, biographies and murder mysteries. My addiction is anything electronic, e.g., cameras, phones, laptops, TIVO, etc. I am a diehard YANKEES fan and hope to regain my love for the SF49ers this season

Welcome, boxerelement. Originially I was curious if you were actually a boxer. Now I understand. I have a Great Dane, who I love to death. I've always wanted a boxer as well. But first, I need an extra acre or so. It's good to have you on this forum!

Thank you. Great Danes are gorgeous, but you do need a lot of space for a breed that large.
