These forum spambots are annoying and need to be wiped off the face of the earth, as should the people who disseminate them. I ahve been reading up to see what other folks are doing on different forums, as these bots attacks thousands of forums worldwide. Another forum admin post said this textual confirmation method was the bees knees, as no spambots have been getting through, although they get two or three per day trying: http://bbantispam.com/tc/Some spambots are apparently able to get around regular CAPTCHAs using optical character recognition software, plus a lot of CAPTCHAs are difficult for people with visual impairments to pass, which isn't good. I've seen other CAPTCHAs that ask the prospective member to count the number of kittens in an image which seems to foil the spambots pretty effectively (and is also sooo cute!!  ). Perhaps the Trumalia Forum signup could be a CAPTCHA that asks the prospective memebr to select which of 4 paintings is the Impressionist one. The other three could be various Pre-Raphaelites or something to make it human friendly. Anyhoo, just venting.  Spambots must die. |
